Jim Orban
Jim started his newspaper career at the Ottawa Journal in1972 and joined the Citizen in 1975. He has held various management and executive positions and in 2003 was appointed publisher of the newspaper.
For over 30 years, Jim has been involved in many community and newspaper organizations and is currently active on 13 community advisory/foundation boards. His community involvement has been recognized by the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI) with the Civic Entrepreneur of the Year Award (2002) for his efforts in aiding community collaboration. In 2004, he received the Trudeau Medal from the School of Management in recognition of his professional and community leadership.
Jim holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Ottawa and the School of Management established the $50,000 James E. Orban scholarship (2002), which awards annual bursaries to students demonstrating leadership and academic excellence.
